VoteRunLead is a fast-growth, non-profit looking to significantly scale to meet heightened market demand. The VoteRunLead team is looking for a driven, mission-focused, team contributor with experience working in fast-paced environment. The Director must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with the VoteRunLead team to deliver measurable, impactful results.



Reporting to the CEO at VoteRunLead, the Director of Digital Strategy will work closely with the CEO and the VoteRunLead team to execute the strategy for all digital communications including website, newsletters, earned and social media, and all online representation. The goals of the Director are to engage and mobilize constituents, consistently articulate the organization’s mission, convey the brand, promote VoteRunLead programming and initiatives, track and analyze engagement data, and increase VoteRunLead’s reach and influence.



  • Execute the strategic communications plan for the organization, in coordination with the Executive Director, COO, and Communications team
  • Ensure consistent branding of all electronic collateral and messaging and alignment across the organization
  • Create social media strategy and manage execution, including content development, organic engagement, ensure ROI for paid ads, A/B testing and community management; includes development and implementation of plans for maximizing constituent engagement on all of VoteRunLead’s social media channels
  • Develop and oversee a strategy for improved online User Experience.
  • Management of the digital aspects of the editorial calendar; ensure that all deadline requirements are met
  • Mentor and lead team members and Fellows responsible for VoteRunLead’s digital communications and representation including direct supervision of staff
  • Coordinate webpage updates; ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly
  • Track, measure, and report on the level of engagement with online audiences over time
  • Manage MailChimp email communications, including  copy-writing, testing, list management and execution
  • Oversee community management for the VoteRunLead Alum groups


Key Qualifications

VoteRunLead is seeking an accomplished Digital Strategist who has experience working with a nonprofit entity and covering areas such as website content, newsletters, and donor communications. The ability to understand the constituents, leverage technology, and disseminate information to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.

Specific requirements include:

  • 3 - 5 years experience leading digital campaigns or civic engagement digital organizing experience
  • Direct management experience is a critical requirement
  • Experience implementing SEO best practices and analysis of digital marketing trends
  • Strong technology background, including expertise with MailChimp, WordPress, Content Management Systems, Slack, Mobile, and knowledge of the newest industry tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience writing and editing copy specifically for digital audiences
  • Passion to drive change and create impact around women’s leadership
  • A strong track record as an innovator and implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including program participants, staff, board members, volunteers, donors, alumni, and other supporters and partner organizations.



VoteRunLead is offering this position as full-time, with a minimum salary of $65,000, commensurate with experience.  In addition, VoteRunLead offers an excellent benefit plan including health insurance with BlueCross-BlueShield, flexible scheduling, and paid travel expenses with the opportunity to participate in high-impact women’s leadership forums around the country. For the right candidate, we are willing to discuss flex-time work arrangements, including remote days, customized working hours, and condensed work weeks.
